‘Nasty’ explosion caused junior high power outage

CLINTON -- The DeWitt County affiliate of Habitat for Humanity conducted a ceremony on November 9 at 914 W Clay, Clinton, to celebrate the transfer of the completed home from the affiliate to the new owners Stanley and Jeneva Jackiewicz and their children Marissa and Stanton.

UPDATED: Power outage causes canceled classes on Monday; power restored, CJHS students back in class

CLINTON -- The Clinton School District canceled school on Monday, Nov. 10 because of an electrical outage at Clinton Junior High School.
The district office reported the main feeds that provide electricity to the building had significant damage that resulted in the loss of power to the junior high building. Electricians believed an electrical arc caused the problem.

CLINTON -- County supervisor of assessments Sandy Schlosser updated the county board Thursday on the equalized assessed valuation (EAV) of Clinton Landfill. She explained value versus "going concern."

CEO surveys hospital’s current financial status

CLINTON -- Dr. John Warner Hospital interim CEO Robert Wolleben reported recently to the city council about the current financial health of the hospital. Indicators used showed good progress in key areas for the facility.

Clinton Police investigate burglaries to Three Stars, Tidy House Laundry

CLINTON -- At 12:53 a.m., Thursday, Clinton Police, assisted by Dewitt County Sheriff's deputies, were called to the scene of a burglary in progress at Three Star Restaurant, located at 1161 West State Route 54, in Clinton.
A responding unit located the suspect vehicle, where a brief pursuit ensued before the suspects abandoned the vehicle and fled on foot.
