High school graduation set for Sunday

CLINTON -- During Tuesday night's monthly meeting, the Clinton Board of Education congratulated Clinton Junior High student Mariah Crutchfield for winning first place in Elks Club Americanism essay contest. Her essay, which she read to the board, was selected from more than 2600 other essays from 86 Elks' Club districts.

Average retail gasoline prices in Illinois have risen 7.7 cents per gallon in the past week, averaging $2.79/g yesterday, according to GasBuddy's daily survey of 4,378 gas outlets in Illinois. This compares with the national average that has increased 5.0 cents per gallon in the last week to $2.71/g, says gasoline price website GasBuddy.com.

Open life jacket loaner stand planned at Clinton Lake

CLINTON -- Bloomington-based Mid-Illini Sail and Power Squadron has teamed up with the Clinton Lake Sailing Association (CLSA) to open a new Life Jacket Loaner Stand at Clinton Lake Marina. Provided by the nonprofit Sea Two Foundation, the life jackets are available in infant through adult sizes for individuals to borrow and return on the honor system.

Four juveniles arrested for school vandalism, burglary

CLINTON -- The Clinton Police Department has arrested multiple area juveniles for vandalism and burglary to the Clinton High School's football field concession stand. 
The concession stand was vandalized and burglarized on April 2, April 24 and April 25 where suspects forced entry into the concession stand and stole large amounts of food and drinks.

DeWitt County settles suit with Clinton Landfill

CLINTON -- DeWitt County settled its lawsuit against Clinton Landfill, and the board voted on Thursday to approve the settlement agreement.
The county sued the landfill for nonpayment of hosting fees. The landfill's owner Peoria Disposal suspended payments after the previous county board took an official stand against the landfill over stored chemical waste at the Clinton facility.

John Blythe named new Clinton Unit 15 school board president

CLINTON -- The Clinton Unit School District board has three new faces with the recent elections and on Tuesday night Rodney Rogers, Ron Conner and Mike Walker were sworn in as new members.
