CLINTON—Randy Workman, a former John Warner Hospital Board member and president and a former City Council member, was reappointed to the board by Mayor Ed Wollet Monday.
Workman resigned because he and his wife intended to buy or build outside the city limits, but ended up buying inside the city limits, a requirement for hospital board appointees. He will fill the vacancy created when Carolyn Peters recently and abruptly resigned, at the same time as acting CEO John Wood. The resignations came after both were asked to come to City Hall for a meeting with the mayor.
In remarks at the end of the Council meeting, Mayor Ed Wollet said many people have asked him if he had anything to say. Though he didn’t provide context, it’s likely people have been questioning him about the resignations. Then again, there are many people who are not happy about the transition from alley trash pickup to street-side pickup.
“I have this to say. Thank you for supporting your town.” He noted that those who serve on the City Council face many challenges, but the rewards are greater. “Together we have expanded the city.”
