Meridian BOE approves possible OVC departure

Posted: Friday, Jul 20th, 2012

As of last Monday, three schools have been given the green light by their respective school boards to leave the Okaw Valley Conference.

On Monday, Meridian held its regularly-scheduled board of education meeting. Among the topics discussed at the meeting was the possibility of leaving the conference.

After a brief discussion on the subject, the Meridian board of education voted, as principal Jack Blickensderfer stated via e-mail, “to allow the Administration ([Athletic Director] and Principal) to join a new conference if that is in our best interest.”

With the Meridian BOE’s vote, the school became the third to reach a tentative decision to leave the OVC.
