MAHOMET - Five members of the Clinton Junior High School wrestling team will continue their seasons next weekend after the finished among the top four in their weight class at the IESA Regional 14 (Mahomet-Seymour) Saturday.

Jr. Maroon wrestlers Mason Witzke, Alex Wheat, Brandon Carter, Arthur Hill and Alex Clymer will compete at the IESA Stanford Olympia Sectional Saturday, March 6 beginning at 9 a.m.

Carter (145 lb.) was the top Clinton finisher at Mahomet Saturday, finishing in second place in his weight group after losing to a Mattoon wrestler in the final.

Three Clinton wrestlers finished third. They were Alex Wheat (112 lb.), Mason Witzke (75 lb.) and Arthur Hill (167 lb.).

135-lb. wrestler Alex Clymer was the final Maroon to advance to this weekend’s round with a fourth place finish.

Carter and Clymer are two of the school’s five eighth grade wrestlers. Wheat and Hill are seventh graders, Witzke, a sixth grader.

In Stanford this weekend, the five Jr. Maroons will compete against wrestlers from East Peoria, Lincoln and Mattoon among other places.
