John Frederick Battiste

CLINTON — John Frederick Battiste, 97, of Clinton, passed away at 11:35 p.m. on June 16, 2012 at Manor Court, Clinton.

A visitation will not be held. Calvert Funeral Home, Clinton, is in charge of arrangements. Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday at Irving Cemetery, Irving, Ill.

Memorials may be made to Clinton United Methodist Church.

John was born on July 30, 1914 in Irving, Ill., son of Marco Battiste and Emma (Conzone) Battiste. He married Wilmith E. Satterlee on June 15, 1946 in Peoria, Ill. She passed away on October 7, 1964.

Survivors include children Dr. Cynthia Elaine Battisite, Wichita, Kan.; Mark David (Diana) Battiste, Lebanon, Ind., and granddaughter Mara Battiste, West Lafayette, Ind.

His parents, two brothers and three sisters preceded him in death.

He was a member of Clinton United Methodist Church and a U.S. Army veteran. He was a retired teacher and member of the NEA and IEA.
