MONTICELLO – Since joining the Okaw Valley Conference in 1990, Clinton has enjoyed some memorable matchups and set up some competitive rivalries with fellow conference schools.
Maroon football fans may recall a 20-14 overtime victory over Central A&M in 2004. Clinton went on to make the playoffs that year while the Raiders went 4-5.
Those same fans may hold painful memories of a 7-6 loss to Tuscola in 2008 that came down to the final seconds and ultimately cost the Maroons a playoff spot, as they finished the season with a 4-5 record.
“I think Clinton has been a good fit for the Okaw over the past 15-20 years, and the proximity of a lot of the schools that we play has made it convenient for Clinton,” Clinton athletic director Karl Parrish said. “We’ve enjoyed a lot of good battles with conference opponents.”
