Ambulance committee discusses uniform 911 signs

Posted: Friday, Jul 13th, 2012

CLINTON — After voting to approve its final Request for Proposal for a county ambulance plan Thursday, the ambulance advisory committee visited some familiar territory — residential 911 address signs.

The committee voted to send the plan to the county board for its approval at the board’s July 19 meeting. If the board passes the plan, the ambulance committee will solicit ambulance service companies to make presentations, which will take place in August. The committee expects to make a recommendation for an ambulance provider to the county board at the board’s August 23 meeting.

About 20 minutes of Thursday’s hour-long committee meeting concerned discussion about residential 911 address signs and ways of encouraging residents to buy and display the signs.

“We’re talking about ambulances, but I think that some of the issues also are for law enforcement, fire, anybody who is out there trying to find a residence,” said Teresa Barnett, committee chairman.
