Christina Schmidt Welchel Godbey

CLINTON — Christina Schmidt Welchel Godbey, 37, of Clinton, Ill., passed away peacefully Friday, August 10, 2012 at home.

 Graveside services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, Aug. 16, 2012 at St. Mary’s Cemetery, Lincoln, Ill. with Fr. Ignatus Mulenda officiating.  Visitation will be held on Wednesday evening, Aug. 15, 2012 from 5-7 p.m. at Calvert Funeral Home, Clinton, Ill. 

Memorials may be made to an education fund for her granddaughter Persephone Amelia Jude Welchel.

Christy was born on December 16, 1974 to Judy and Richard Schmidt. She married Todd Godbey on December 15, 1999.

Christy graduated from Lincoln Community High School. She loved her family, friends, and was very excited about the recent birth of her precious granddaughter. Christy had a love for life and really enjoyed her music, pets, and the constant hustle and bustle of kids in and out of her house.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Judy Schmidt.

She is survived by her husband, Todd Godbey of Clinton; two children, Taylor Welchel and Zachary Welchel (Sarah) of Clinton; father, Richard Schmidt (wife, Clare) of Lincoln; sister, Deborah Marshall (husband, Dereck) of Maryland; step brothers, Greg Hale (wife, Kerry) of Burlington, Iowa and Jason Hale (wife, Vina) of Alexandria, Missouri; niece, Arianna Smith of Maryland; grandchild, Persephone Amelia Jude Welchel of Clinton and many aunts, uncles, cousins, and beloved friends.
